Distillery Hill – Stonecutters
Designed by Tzannes Associates in association with Lend Lease, Stonecutters along with Knox on Bowman form part of the masterplan for Jacksons Landing, Distillery Hill. Stonecutters contains 107 apartments across 20 floors above 6 levels of basement car parking and shared facilities. The mix and amenity of the apartments varies up through the building, culminating at the ‘Skyhomes’ with access to private roof top terrace and pool.
The urban form of the tower has been derived from a study of the site history, and the desire to modulation to minimise bulk and articulate vertical elements. Stonecutters rises from a uniform sandstone base which it shares with its sister low-rise building Knox on Bowman. It appears as a cluster of slender high-rise forms, visually dynamic and functionally and environmentally appropriate.
Stonecutters and Knox on Bowman was awarded the prestigious multiple residential housing award by the Australian Institute of Architects NSW. According to the jury “careful articulation of the individual facades and podium have made a considered and substantial contribution to the streetscape of Jacksons Landing, while adding a refined and elegant tower to Sydney’s skyline”.
