Point Piper Residence

Sydney

This is a house about monumentality, views, privacy, light, air and connection to an elevated garden terrace all within the constrained context and density of the eastern suburbs. It contains lessons of how to maintain high standards of living whilst occupying a smaller footprint of land.

The major living areas of the house are oriented towards sweeping views of Double Bay, the Harbour Bridge and Opera House through a double height balcony space that also provides protection and screening from the westerly sun. This space is reflected internally by a double height library space which provides drama to the interior and allows northerly light deep into the building.

The sides of the building are folded to provide glimpses of the harbour whilst providing privacy from the neighbouring houses.
