Quay Grand Apartment

Circular Quay NSW

This apartment is located on Macquarie Street, Sydney adjacent to the Botanic Gardens and near the Opera House.

The brief was to combine two apartments into one larger apartment creating a permanent home for the clients and to accommodate frequent extended family guests.  The existing apartment building is approximately 15 years old and could be characterised as a typical ‘developer yield’ driven plan arrangements with little relationship with the external form of the building.

The external form of the building and outlook influenced the internal planning,  orienting the rooms to take advantage of the spectacular views and creating create 3 distinct zones along the length of the apartment.

A warm palette of materials was selected to compliment the existing buildings common area and create a seamless transition into the apartment.
The project required intense collaboration between the client, architects and the structural and services engineers to co-ordinate the design proposals with the existing building structure and services.
