This house at Killcare is designed for holiday use. The location is a steeply sloping coastal block of land. A steel framed structure was selected to provide long spans with the required stability for extensive operable glazing. The exterior is clad in zinc with aluminium framed glass and a marine grade plywood soffit to the under side of the house. The interior is characterised by the use of timber, including blackbutt floor finishes, and hoop pine plywood walls and joinery, contrasting with warm white paint finishes. Interior furniture including a built-in ‘transformation’ bed/lounge/deck which was designed on optimise space and function.
