The Centennial Hotel project has recycled an existing building in a conservation area by conserving the façade following established heritage conservation methodology. The interior and the open space have been comprehensively redeveloped. New elements are sympathetic with the existing fabric, while also being distinctive and following the design principles of our practice.
Exterior elements include substantial timber framed glazing to complement the extensive timber interiors. A small courtyard on axis with a main vista extends the spatial character of the interior. Extensive acoustic treatment complements the visual and lighting environment to provide a balanced overall environment.
The owners provided an inspirational brief underpinned by a deep understanding of the value of good design to their proposed enterprise.
