Bellevue Hill Residence

Bellevue Hill NSW

Set within a quiet leafy street in Bellevue Hill, this home originally designed by Ercole Palazetti nestles into a steep site. The design transforms the existing house into a new home with contemporary interiors and a new exterior sympathetic to the original character of the house.

The entry level of the house accommodates the kitchen, dining and lounge areas. A new open plan design coupled with full height glass doors to the west opens up interiors to the larger balcony ‘outdoor’ room. A new curved pergola structure conceals louvers that provide relief from the harsh western sun and offer privacy to the balcony when desired.

The middle level houses the bedrooms and ancillary faculties such as the laundry, a gym, a cellar and a second study. The lowest level with its extensive demolition, excavation and new works transformed the previously cramped rooms to a generous light filled family area. The new lift and lobbies provides enhanced accessibility to the house as well as allows the owners and guests a more convenient and safer way of accessing all the levels.

Finishes of timber, stone and metals were chosen for their durability and adds warmth and longevity to the interior and exterior.
